Today I’m going to share with you my biggest blind buy so far! I got this hair straightener without having read any reviews on it, not that I didn’t do my research before I planned on getting one for myself (I always do), the reason being that unfortunately, the ones that I’d chosen were simply not available. So how did it turn out? Keep reading to find out!

My thoughts
You should know that I’ve absolutely had no experience with hair straighteners before so I’ve got nothing for comparison. All I’ve ever heard of is that GHD straighteners are the mother of all but they come with a hefty price tag which I wasn’t quite willing to splurge on at this moment. I consider myself very lucky that I went with it and it worked out for me. In fact, it worked out GREAT for me, my mum and my sisters.
Just to give you a little bit of background, my hair is normal with a natural wave at the tips. I have medium length hair that doesn’t get too frizzy. Obviously, my hair type isn’t the most difficult to flatten so it hardly takes me around five minutes to do my hair from start to finish. In my case, it’s effortless and unbelievably fast. It heats up in seconds and doesn’t snag or pull at all. I find that just a couple strokes leave my hair looking instantly smooth and straight which lasts all day. In case you’re wondering, currently I'm using John Frieda Frizz-Ease Hair Serum Thermal Protection Formula and spritz Paul Mitchell Seal and Shine to protect my hair from losing the moisture and finish off with L'Oreal Elnett Satin Supreme Hold Hair Spray. Protecting your hair from heat damage is absolutely crucial even at the lowest heat setting so do not skip that. Anyway, the real challenge came up when I used it on my mum’s hair which is also medium length, thick, coarse, color treated and rebellious. Believe me, the results were amazing! Of course, her hair required higher heat setting and took more than a single pass on each section to get the job done but once it was all done, it remained in shape until the next hair wash which was unbelievable!
Now onto the product itself. First of all, as you can see, it has got wide plates which are perfect for styling long thick hair quickly. It’s sturdy yet feels light and easy to hold. Right on the top, you can see a digital heat display which is adjustable (150 to 230 degrees); you can raise or reduce the temperature depending on your preferences by simply pressing the `+` or `-' buttons. Once you’ve the required temperature, press the '-' button for a sec to lock it. This great feature keeps you from accidentally switching up the temperature while you're straightening. When you turn it on, its default is 190 degrees and the screen flashes until it's heated up to this temperature. To use the heat boost function, just press the `+' button for some time and it will directly go to the highest heat setting – I’ve never used it since the default temperature works just fine for me.
I wish the cord were a little longer because I’ve to sit close to the plug but that’s not a big issue. I like that it’s attached by a swivel neck so that you can move it freely without tangling the cord. Another handy bonus is the heat-proof pouch it comes with; you can store it right away without worrying about burning anything it comes in contact with. And, you can also press the plates together and lock them in place with a button near the bottom of the handle. Not to mention, the automatic safety shut off after an hour saves you from the worry if you forget to turn if off when in a hurry. It couldn't get better than that!
Overall, I am absolutely pleased with it. I and my sisters have been using it a lot lately but it hasn't caused any damage or robbed our hair off its luster and shine so we totally heart it! I know the price is a bit steep but it's well worth the expense. I will recommend it to a friend.
