I really had high hopes for this product as I love Revlon ColorStay Foundation so I was expecting the lip product from this line would appeal to me similarly but to tell you the truth, it’s really disappointing.
The shade is a beautiful soft peach – the kinda shade I adore for a natural lip. It doesn’t get fully opaque on first swipe but I would NOT suggest layering it. Even though it applies smoothly and feels like a thin emulsion, after a few seconds it makes my lips feel dreadfully stiff. It dries fast and sets to a cakey cracked finish that accentuates my lip lines horribly. On top of that, it also feels like glue when I press my lips together which I don't like.
It does stay put which is the only silver lining I could make out so I had to figure out a way to make it work. If I use a clear lip gloss on top, it looks fine but soon as the gloss fades away, the crumbled base shows up again which means you have to re-touch several times a day! As I said, the base color does stay put well for good amount of time so if you don’t mind re-touching, you might well like it. I tried putting a lip balm both under and over it but that made things even worse; the balm made it crumble into tiny ugly bits over my lip so don’t try that. The one issue I have with the applicator is that it brings out too much product or maybe the thin/runny consistency is to blame here. If you are not careful, you may end up applying it beyond the outline of your lip.
Bottom line: I'm disappointed. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. Not to mention, it's a pain to remove. You can't get rid of it entirely unless you literally scrub it off.
You might like it if...
- You expect it to stay put for a good amount of time
- You expect a semi-opaque coverage
- You use a clear lip gloss over it
- The cakey/cracked matte finish bothers you
- You expect it to be non-sticky
- You find the application difficult due to its thin consistency
- You expect it to be removed easily
